The former Liverpool manager says coming back to lead Liverpool is conceivable.

The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the idea that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he told Steven Bartlett: “I declared I will never coach any other side on English soil. Therefore should it be the Reds...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, that means I might decide later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on which situations must arise to tempt his return to the dugout, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings multiple times weekly or constant media duties each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the players enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly a very good mood in the building. I still have Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the adjustments that took the title in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments following significant transfers, though he denied the idea it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. No need for concern about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. The Portugal international lost his life in a vehicle collision with his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for his teammates as well. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it as an excuse but it is the situation. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Coping with it individually is difficult. Overwhelming.”
