The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their first World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three victory in the series. They will now face the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.

"It's incredible for this squad, our city, the nation," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now slugged 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment except for George Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, are still the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Wilson commented "certainly that it's painful" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but commended their performance this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we ended up on the wrong side of this one," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on this Friday.
