Our Purpose Consists of Only Executing' - How Sudan's Vicious Fighting Force Perpetrated a Massacre

Militiamen smirk as they travel on the bed of a pick-up truck, speeding alongside a line of nine dead bodies and heading towards the setting Sudanese evening sky.

"See this extensive accomplishment. Look at this ethnic cleansing," a combatant exclaims.

The fighter smiles as he directs the video equipment on his person and his fellow militiamen, their paramilitary insignia visible: "The victims are all going to perish in this manner."

The men are rejoicing over a mass killing that humanitarian officials fear killed over two thousand people in the African city of the Darfur city last month.

A City Severed from the Globe

After maintaining the community under siege for nearly an extended period, from the summer the militia advanced to reinforce its control and blockade the leftover residents.

Orbital photography reveal that forces began to erect a massive earth barrier - a built-up sand barrier - surrounding the edges of the city, blocking access routes and blocking humanitarian assistance.

As the siege worsened, 78 people were killed in an militia attack on a place of worship on 19 September, while the international organization reported 53 further were slain in drone and artillery attacks on a refugee settlement in October.
