Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates includes live text for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard through select stations covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week in the NFL season , after last week's discussion regarding two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their perfect starts.
Striking in those games were the amount of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia did so at crucial times meaning they kind of defeated themselves after leading 17-3 entering the fourth period against Denver, who play overseas this weekend.
But it proved positive to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit and then lead three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.
Denver have the top defender with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, yet Denver prevailed in that contest.
They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always sending extra pass rushers instead they could plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a slot defender from the outside.
At the start in the campaign, we said during a show how the Broncos might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They ended last season well and excelled of building upon that.
Could Denver be this season's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has excelled big and new RB JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).
It's impressive that the coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.
This demonstrates that Denver are a squad aiming to run first, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable situations.
This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who came into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to throw all over, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, and he is highly agile.
His strengths are his mobility, the capacity to pass on the run, and finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws across the middle or past defenders.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is very decisive.
If you constantly rush it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to be on the field for longer, and if you've got a mobile QB the defence must defend the area vertically and horizontally. It can be exhausting.
The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and it seems Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for the coach to have a young quarterback that is kind of like moldable clay. He can truly build something up how he wants to build it. I think it's a special experience for him.
Payton has won a Super Bowl and has passed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is largely due to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps make him what he is.
You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and boost confidence.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, I don't think Denver are elite. They're performing above average, that's a good place to be in the AFC West. The key to do to continue this trajectory.
They excel at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and that's precisely what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team yet to win any game.
Ever since the NFL started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are also the first team to go without any turnovers in five outings, this is surprising when you think that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.
Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the division.
This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because Denver {beat|def
