Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
