Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his position following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with outcomes like these.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to the top, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
